On September 19, 2026, a meaningful day in Wildwood, Carl D. Essen along with family cut the ribbon to officially unveil the Essen Log Cabin in the city’s new Village Green Park—a place where history, community, and perseverance now come together for everyone to enjoy.
The moment marked the culmination of a long and nonlinear journey. Saving the cabin, protecting its legacy, and finding it a permanent home required the dedication of Carl Essen and countless others who believed that this remarkable structure deserved to survive for future generations. Through years of effort, collaboration, persistence, and care, the Essen Log Cabin has been preserved as a living reminder of the people, stories, and determination that shaped the region.
With the ribbon now cut, the cabin stands proudly in its new setting, freely accessible for residents, visitors, families, history lovers, and anyone curious to experience this special piece of Wildwood’s past. Its logs and hand-built character speak to another era, while its presence in the Village Green offers new opportunities for connection and discovery.
